India, Russia sign MOU to set up UAV & Satellite Lab

India and Russia Inaugurate Landmark UAV Laboratory at CSJMU, Kanpur: Historic MoU Formalizes Pathbreaking Collaboration in Drone Technology and Satellite Systems Education – A Milestone in Russia-India Strategic Partnership



KANPUR, India: In a defining step forward for bilateral innovation, the Indo Russia “Innopraktika” Technology Hub, the Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU) Foundation, Kalam SPS Research Centre, and Geoscan Group formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a state-of-the-art Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and Satellite Laboratory at the CSJMU Campus in Kanpur. The signing was accompanied by the inauguration of structured Certification Courses in Drone Technology and Satellite Systems and the UAV Laboratory, marking a transformative chapter in the deepening educational and technological ties between the Republic of India and the Russian Federation.



The inauguration ceremony brought together senior diplomatic, academic, and industry leaders, including H.E. Denis Alipov, Russian Ambassador to India, Ms. Natalia Popova, First Deputy CEO, Innopraktika, Prof. Vinay Kumar Pathak, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, CSJMU, Kanpur, Mr. Debjit Chakraborty, CEO & Executive Director, Indo Russia “Innopraktika” Technology Hub, Mr. Srijan Singh, Founder, Kalam SPS Research Centre Pvt. Ltd., Mr. Vladimir Ivanov, Director of International Business Development, Geoscan underscoring the significance of this initiative as an embodiment of the rich bilateral agenda advanced during President Vladimir Putin’s State Visit to India in December 2025.


Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, H.E. Denis Alipov, Russian Ambassador to India, described the occasion as a watershed moment in bilateral cooperation.
